USPack has been recognized by Retail Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top Retail Pool Distribution Service - 2025,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry. This profile has been developed by the Retail Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Ryan James Gumro, Vice President of Retail Distribution.
Ryan James Gumro, Vice President of Retail DistributionWith more than 30 years of experience in logistics, USPack has become a trusted partner for leading retail brands by rethinking how freight moves through the supply chain. Its model centers on commingled routing, where freight from multiple customers is consolidated into shared lanes, creating density that reduces costs and improves efficiency.
Line hauls move freight from customer distribution centers into USPack’s own terminals, where loads are broken out, optimized, and dispatched to stores multiple times weekly. By controlling this entire process, from the middle to the final mile, the company delivers the efficiency, precision, and consistency that retailers rely on.
The impact is measurable. The company consistently achieves 98 percent or better on-time delivery and scanning accuracy, even within tight delivery windows ranging from 15 minutes to two hours. Those narrow windows reduce store labor tied up waiting for freight, speed up the unloading process, and allow store teams to spend more time with customers than handling deliveries.
“Delivering to the stores multiple days a week from multiple customers is what we are doing,” says Ryan James Gumro, vice president of Retail Distribution. That approach, he explains, is the core of running “the most efficient supply chain possible.”
Technology Driving Reliability
Technology underpins USPack’s performance. Driver movements are tracked through geofencing with an accuracy of about three feet, supported by GPS and real-time scanning that verifies when deliveries fall within required windows.
Its dynamic route optimization software adds another layer of agility. Dynamic route optimization enables schedules to be rebuilt daily, allowing for quick adaptation to seasonal peaks, such as back-to-school, Black Friday, or Christmas. This flexibility prevents overloaded trucks, keeps drivers on the move, and ensures commitments to retailers are met even in times of high demand.
The company has also developed its proprietary technology, the ADDI Portal, which extends real-time visibility across all verticals. Initially designed for healthcare, it provides live tracking, signature capture, and complete supply chain transparency. Today, it is used as effectively in retail, healthcare, banking, and automotive logistics, where timely and auditable deliveries, from pharmaceuticals and lab specimens to auto parts and financial materials, are mission-critical.
Experience That Solves Challenges
A striking example of USPack’s efficiency model in action is its work on the West Coast, where a major client transitioned its entire store network from assisted to unassisted deliveries (UAD). That complex shift required secure lockboxes, overnight access, and the ability to manage returns after hours. By carefully engineering the transition, USPack enabled deliveries to be completed before staff arrived each morning, saving labor costs, freeing store teams to focus on sales, and giving the company greater routing flexibility. The outcome was a win-win with more productive stores and a more efficient delivery network.
USPack has proven that its model scales far beyond retail with a national footprint spanning coast-to-coast coverage, including Hawaii. Healthcare, critical mile, banking, and automotive customers benefit from the same combination of commingled routing, KPI discipline, and visibility that defines its retail success.
Whether leveraging KPIs, managing ultra-tight delivery windows, expanding into new verticals, or deploying proprietary technology to drive visibility, USPack continues to adapt and deliver. One optimized route at a time, USPack is redefining what modern supply chain execution looks like.
